For information on financing a recreational vehicle, boat, motorhome, 5th wheel, travel trailer we have the answers. When considering financing there are many things the thing inexperienced buyer needs to know. The most important thing to do is shop around and be sure the unit you want to purchase is worth the asking price, love at first site is not a good thing, find out what other dealers or private parties are asking for a comparable unit. The bank looks at the NADA Book to find what the unit you want to finance is worth, you can go to the NADA Guide web site and check out the book price, use the low book price as a guide and do not add any thing to it! Interest rates from a dealer are usually higher than from a broker. DO NOT be fooled by the very low rates they offer, they are called 'buy-downs'....you are paying too much for the unit and the dealer pays the bank so you have a lower rate. This sounds ok until you want to sell or refinance, you will be 'upside-down' which means you will owe a lot more money than the unit is worth and you will have to pay, usually thousands of dollars, in order to make up the difference. Think twice, in fact three or four times before you decide on a home equity loan to finance a boat or RV which are considered a luxury item? Do you really want to place your home in jeopardy if a crisis would occur???
Make sure you find a reputable broker. Check them out, ask for references if need be. Shop for a broker as you shop for your rig. Do not believe anyone who promises you a definite rate.....they are not the bank underwriters and only the bank can decide the real rate. The bank considers the unit you want, it's age, your whole credit profile, not just the credit score. Ask how many times they will pull your credit score....make sure they do not 'shot-gun' you, pull your credit for multiple banks at the same time. Three times is the absolute limit and usually it is done only once or twice. Make sure the fee that is charged to process the loan is what you end up paying.....it can be hidden as secretarial fees or under other assorted names.....you may be charged as much as $300. to over $1,000.
RVfinancing.com is the original on-line RV financing company and is the largest because of it's low rates, low processing fee and efficient service. This company has no gimmicks, it represents all the major banks and can also do LLC's as well as LLC financing. They are helpful and welcome any financing questions.
